Angelo State University Announces Spring 2019 Dean's List
Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List designation for the 2019 spring semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Angelo State University Announces 2019 Spring Graduates
Angelo State University conferred 820 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 814 graduates during its 2019 spring commencement exercises on May 11 in the ASU Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas. McMurry Women's Swim Team Selected for ASC-SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards
McMurry University was one of eight American Southwest Conference member institutions to be recognized by the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as recipients of ASC-SAAC Team Sportsmanship awards for the spring 2018 sport seasons, it was announced by the league office. The War Hawks' softball and women's track & field teams both earned the honor. The SAAC Team Sportsmanship award honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The spring 2018 awards are presented in baseball, men's golf, women's golf, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track & field and women's track & field with each of the 13 campus SAACs voting within the sports it sponsors.

Seven McMurry War Hawks Earn NCCAA Tennis Honors
The McMurry University tennis programs - under head coach Mark Hathorn - had a total of seven players garner post-season recognition from the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The post-season honors were announced in conjunction with the NCCAA's national championships tournament at the Mobile Tennis Center, where the War Hawks women's squad was a member of the eight-team field.

McMurry Athletes Baker, Munoz Receive ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor
Chris Baker (baseball) and Symphony Munoz (women's tennis) have been named as McMurry University's winners of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipients for 2017-18, it was announced by the league office. The ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is presented to one male and one female member of the graduating class at each ASC institution, who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics and leadership over their collegiate career.

McMurry McM McMurry Swimming Honored as SCAC 2017-18 Winter Sportsmanship Teams
Both the men's and women's swimming teams from McMurry University were recognized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) as 2017-18 Winter Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports. The two War Hawks' programs were among five total honored by the SCAC. The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year in an effort to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The winter awards are presented in men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming and diving.

The following students are members of the McMurry War Hawks Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect studentathletes' lives. There is a SAAC at the institution, conference and national levels. Presently, there are separate national SAACs for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their respective campuses. Further, NCAA legislation requires that all member conferences have SAACs.

McMurry Women's Swimming Earns Academic Accolades
McMurry University's women's swim team is among the 688 teams that have earned the distinction of Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2017 semester from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America. The teams represent a total of 430 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions. To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the Fall Semester. Under head coach Casey Pacheco - in his first season at the War Hawks' helm - the McMurry ladies compiled a team grade point average of 3.08 for the recently-completed fall semester. "We are proud of these ladies and all the hard work they put in each and every day," Pacheco said. "Their dedication and effort shines in the classroom, as well as the pool." McMurry will next compete at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships on February 14-17 at the East Side Natatorium in The Colony, Texas.

Area Students Members of McMurry War Hawk Women's Tennis
The following scholar-athletes are members of the McMurry University War Hawk women's tennis team. With the 2018 tennis season just around the corner, the McMurry University women's squad has been picked second in the American Southwest Conference West Division pre-season poll. Additionally, juniors Samantha Ritz (Rowlett, Texas/Rowlett H.S.) and Zayra Gomez (Andrews, Texas/Andrews H.S.) were both named to the pre-season "watch list." Ritz - playing Flight 3 singles - rolled up the team's best record in singles action in 2017. Ritz went 16-5 individually and included a school-record 14-match winning streak during the campaign. She was a second team All-ASC West selection in singles last year, while also gaining first team All-ASC West in Flight 1 doubles (with partner Bree Brosig) after posting a 12-8 overall record in pairs play. Gomez was honored as a second team All-ASC West player at Flight 3 doubles as a sophomore. Gomez was 9-11, overall, in doubles. In singles, playing primarily the Flight 4 slot, Gomez went 13-8. UT-Dallas was picked to win the ASC West Division. UT-Tyler and East Texas Baptist University were the co-favorites in the ASC East poll. The War Hawks open their 2018 slate of matches on Friday, February 2 at East Texas Baptist University.
